Leafs are way under cap at just shy of 77 Million and have at TON of cap space to work with at free agency. If leafs wanted to get top calibre backup goaltending in free agency it would be a lot easier to do so.

I think you are starting with Nylander plus 2022 1st and 2023 1st and go from there.

Zero chance that package gets you #2 overall. Not even close. A third pairing D, a D who’s one injury away from retirement, a fourth line player and a backup goalie. devils hang up quickly. Add in Robertson and/ or Sandin and you may have a conversation.

@RLF I don't think 2 1sts+Nylander is what it takes. I'm more thinking swap picks+Nylander.

I think we all agree though, second overall won't be handed over for that.

@LL. If it only takes our 1st+ Nylander to get their 2nd overall pick, Dubas should be all over it. I still think it takes at least another 1st, but I could be wrong.
