I don't see how Murray is a better option than the now departed Mzarek. Not performing up to the standard of your contract, only a handful of players fall into the same level of underperformance. Toews at 10.5 million but he actually offers other intangibles like leadership & toughness, Suter & Parise contracts in that the same league as Murray thus they were bought out. A Murray deal could sink the season expect by the quarter pole, the Leafs near last in the Conference & Marner or Matthews soon thereafter requesting a trade. Keefe gets fired mid season & Leafs miss the playoffs, Campbell flourishes in Edmonton & they make the Conférence final.

I personally don’t see how an injury prone Murray ($3.15 x 2 if 50% Is retained) is any better than an injury prone Mrazek ($3.8 x 2)

So why did Dubas give up the #25 pick ( Think Ryan Chesley, Brad Lambert, Isaac Howard) for the #38 pick (Minten? )

Dubas’ incompetence is startling!

I agree that Murray is not a better option than Campbell or Mrazek but Mrazek is gone and Campbell seems unwilling now to listen to Leaf offers.

The big hopes in the trade are 50% retention and gaining a C with high potential. Pinto has an abundance of upside.
