I keep looking at the Leafs RD, like most of us, and it lacks. There are some possible guys available like Severson and maybe even Weegar, but the one that I keep coming back to when all is considered is Peeke. CLB just signed Gudbranson and drafted Jiricek. They also have Boqvist, Blackenburg and Bean can play the right side as well. Last season was Peeke's first full season in the NHL. He spent much of it with Werenski and didn't fair too badly. When I look at CLB, they still need some pure scorer's, which they lack in the system. I had put out a deal around him and Robertson and that still seems to make sense to me.

CLB
Robertson ELC
Holmberg ELC

Tor
Peeke $.787M

CLB picks up two young prospects that have shown they can score and Leafs get a cheap and still young RD that can hopefully fit into their top 4.

The Red Wings lack an NHL ready, young LD. Leafs could still use some more size upfront.

Det
Kerfoot $3.5M
Sandin RFA

Tor
Rasmussen $1.46M
Walman $1.05M

Rew Wings improve speed and PK upfront with Kerfoot and have a young LD for now and the future in Sandin. Leafs get a big middle 6er that can play C or W. They take on Walman to ease the logjam and add depth to their D, they can send him to the minors and bury most of his contract if he isn't picked up on waivers.

I like both Peeke and Rasmussen.

My hesitation on the Peeke deal is Robertson.

I continue to feel he can be a good NHLer with scoring ability. His injuries have not allowed us to get a good sense of what he can be.

Would Abruzzese or Anderson be a good replacement?

I like both.

I'm fine dumping any pick or prospect right now. You have to go all in eventually.

I don't think if you take out Robertson they would still do the deal. He is the main piece.

I agree that CBJ would want Robertson and that Peeke could be something special.

I also understand the concept of giving to get but I’m still a bit hesitant.

Oh wait, playoff hockey is unlike the regular season!

Okay I’ll take Peeke’s size and physicality!

We need an NHL defenceman much more then a prospect forward. I personally think Robertson is too small and seems to play scared. Perhaps because of his injury history. But I feel he is better suited as a trade chip, while his value still may be high.

Wow finally something tangible got to hand it to you that’s a nice win win. I’d pull the trigger with Robertson I feel he’s been in camp long enough to have earned his spot already he’s had some bad luck with injury same as Muzz and we all want him or his contract shipped out from what I’ve read it’s time while Robertson to crack the line up right now or bye bye while he’s still an asset.

I like the CBJ deal.
Leafs need more than Brodie, Liljegren and Holl on the right side.

Not so crazy about the deal with Detroit.
Kerfoot alone is valuable in his own right, at only 27 years of age, 51 points, +19, 2nd line LW, 3rd line Center.
To add Sandin who has proven he is a 3rd pairing defenseman with 2nd pairing upside seems like a major overpayment for Rasmussen who has yet to prove anything at the NHL level.

@WB. All good. I Appreciate the response from you without all the! (yelling) and disrespectful tones in the writing. Cheers to you.

Although I believe Rasmussen has established himself as a minimum 3rd line centre as much as Sandin has established himself a minimum 3rd pair D. Ras is solid on the draw, hits and pretty safe with the puck. He was only 22 last season and he was used on both the PK and the PP. He put up 25 even strength points playing on the 3rd line. Then of course there is the Leafs cap situation and Ras is signed for 2 seasons at $1.46M, which is huge for the Leafs. Ras has very good potential.

Yes, Kerfoot had 51 pts, but he is a pending UFA, so Leafs aren't getting Ras for just Kerfoot imo. Also, Kerfoot only had 13 goals compared to Ras's 15 and Kerfoot benefitted greatly points wise from playing with JT and Nylander. Let's not forget that Kerfoot plays for the high scoring Leafs and Ras played for the bottom feeder Wings. I doubt Kerfoot would have put up 50 pts last season in Detroit. Sandin is added because unless the Leafs are moving Muzzin, which looks like they aren't, there is no room for him on the Leafs. He is the key piece the Wings would want, not Kerfoot. Kerfoot is replaced by Ras and moving his salary allows the Leafs to add both Peeke and Ras while ending up cap compliant where as of now, Leafs are currently $1.5M over without Sandin signed.
