He's a rental. If we use Lunqvist as a guideline for Sandin, it looks good to me.

I'm aware he's a rental, so we could get him cheaper. We'd obviously have to figure out his cap hit aswell, maybe a 3rd team. Are you saying to trade Sandin for a 1st? Like Lunqvist received. I would rather keep Sandin, Muzzin is already having injury issues, or trade him for a solid RHD.

NJ has lots of young LD's, so I don't know if they really need Sandin. The player I would see the Devils wanting is Nylander and we have all thrown out numerous Nylander to Jersey trades. Mercer is a no go, so forget him coming back.
Bernier looks like he won't be ready, so they will have that space in LTIR. Nylander for Severson, McLeod and Zetterlund or Okhotiuk is my guess on what it would look like.

L67. I totally understand why those who want to keep Willy would want to keep him. Looking at where NJ is in their team development, I just don't see them interested in anyone other than Nylander (that is assuming that Matthews, Marner, JT and Rielly are not on the table) . Just my opinion.

Damon Severson is barely a second pairing defenseman.
Giving up two young players plus a 3rd round pick would not be something I would care to see the Leafs do!

If Leafs were to send Nylander to the Devils, Dawson Mercer (RW) would be an absolute must coming back or why trade away the 3rd best player on the team!
Nylander would be a fantastic acquisition for the Devils who could pair him on their 1st line with Hughes.

Severson is barely a 2nd pair D-man? I can honestly say I have never heard that before. I have him as a good 2 or excellent 3. We really see this one different. Willy is a UFA in another season who will want a big raise, while Mercer is cost controlled for years and part of their future. Why would they trade him for Willy when they aren't likely Cup contenders during Willy's current contract?
