thoughts on a straight up horvat for nylander trade?

horvat has more of a playoff style, played on the PK, and would look really well with JT, makes 1.5m less, and could probably resign at 7-7.5. he might not like playing on the wing, but imagine the posibilities.

Nylander still have 1yr on his contract, has center capability, and I think would mesh well with petterson and mickeyev.

(side not, maybe work out a shenn for holl with a 3rd as a sweetener)

I would do it and put JT on his wing. Horvat plays both specialty teams, is physical enough and very responsible defensively. Not sure you get him signed in the $7-$7.5M range though. Van may do it as Nylander has the extra year on his contract, but it all depends on what they think of Nylander.

I'm ok with this swap but i just don't think it advances or age old problem of LW. also dunno that Horvat re-signs for that low. maybe someting like what waterbuffalo suggested or instead of Garland try to build on a package to get Demko added to it to improve of goalie situation as i have to faith in Murray when he comes back. more so on him staying healthy than his play.

Horvat can also be used at LW with Tavares.
The way I look at it, if Willie is traded then the Leafs need a RW, thus adding Garland to the trade.
