I have always liked Gibson, but I wouldn't trade Samsonov for Gibson one for one right now. That contract is an anchor.

I do have interest in both Jones and Leason but otherwise would not support this trade!

I agree with Leafslife. I have been impressed with Samsonov more than i thought i would have been. sure he's allowed a few bad goals but what he has been able to do so far with a team that has played bad defensively and riddled with injuries now on D. I the leafs could improve there play and add a D man or 2 i'd like to see how much better he would be.

Yes he may carry a big hit but I look too at what we also get (good young grit) we also lose some $cap hit and imo would only seek possibly another top 4 defender, but lets admit that our goaltending also with this trade becomes pretty reliable.

Sorry folks, that is far too much to get those 4 players. Not even close in my eyes.
I would see if there is a way to pry Jones and Leason loose but this makes no sense to me!
Knies will give us grit!

RSearsI am thinking in the realm of now where you can only Hope that Knies does bring it, . eventually, but the gritty young players I also mentioned are bringing it now and for me that also relates to the future as well.

Put it this way, . Anahiem has time to use Knies for grit later down the road as he would not come into our line-up but the trade would instantly insert grit now and for me that is key to round us out now.

John Gibson has been absolutely terrible this year and the two seasons prior.
I would much prefer to keep Samsonov at $1.8 to paying Gibson $6.4.

I do understand the now issue very well and don’t disagree with needing grit! I expect Knies will be elevated to the NHL in time for end of season and playoffs.

I may be putting too much faith in him too soon but he is a gritty physical LW with offence, a true power forward.

It’s simply too much in my eyes.

Honestly the Leafs problem goes deeper than just grit. They are simply being out-skated, out-hustled and out-worked. Take pride in your play and give 100% every game and every shift!

Talent alone is not enough.

John Gibson and Nathan Bealieu do NOT make us a better team!
