To TOR: D - L. Schenn

To VAN: F - N. Abruzesse + 2024 5th

Schenn is a depth rental, Vancouver gets a mid range prospect and a pick.

Then

Assuming Muzzin is gone Long Term, which it seems like.

To TOR: D - J. Chychrun + 2024 2nd

To ARZ: D - J. Holl + 2023 1st + D - T. Niemela + 2024 1st + 2025 3rd

With this deal, the Leafs essentially trade down from the 1st and into the 2nd of the 2024 draft, but also give up another 1st and 3rd, plus a high quality prospect.

I'm onboard with the first trade, adds toughness!

I'm not crazy about the Chychrun deal, I think it's too much for someone who has had one good year and a riddled injury career.

Maybe closer to the deadline I will feel more inclined.

So Chicago is certainly one team ready to deal but I'm not trading for Kane or Toews, too much money and probably tough to resign.

They are looking for youth and skill and since Leafs will have their hands tied with zero flexibility as we near the trade deadline a multiple player deal today might be what the doctor ordered.

Athanasiou (one year left) and Murphy ($4.4 x 4) for Abruzzese, McMann, SDA, Kerfoot and Engval. Kerfoot and Engval can be resigned and traded in 2023 for other young players or picks.

Chicago can handle the contracts and we drop to 47.

just because they're asking for all that doesnt mean they'll get it.

Two 1st round picks, a 3rd round pick and a top prospect for Chychrun, who has an injury history comparable to Petr Mrazek and Matt Murray would not interest me at all.
I am somewhat bewildered by all of the love for Chychrun.
Outside of one above average season, Chychrun has been a “B” level defenseman in his 6 1/ 4 NHL seasons.
I would much prefer Gavrikov from CBJ’s if he was available.

The second 1st is a trade down to a 2nd, do likely around 15 spots or something, depending on the picks.

I like the first one. Take out Niemela in the Arz trade and I think it is fair.
