*Sharks retain 50% of Meier's expiring contract.

San Jose will be looking at trading Meier for the right price, Knies could potentially be a Top 6 power forward every team wants, Woll is killing it in The AHL and SJ is looking for a future goaltender, adding a 1st Rounder should seal my proposal.

Meier would fit like a glove on The Leafs Top 6, moving Jarnkrok to the Bottom 6 also makes the forward group stronger, yes Meier would probably demand close to 8 million after this season as a RFA, but deal with that in the offseason.

I actually think this is a bit light.

Meier is an RFA which drives up his value a tonne.

I do like him a lot, however his salary thus year is $10M. He's going to cost more than Nylander to re-sign.

@LeafsLifehe also has a $10m qualifying offer that most teams just cant do. so hes essentially made himself an almost quaranteed rental.

I think that might be a little light on Leafs end.
Maybe a 2024 2nd round pick OR Nick Robertson to get it done.
But I think it is a trade for the best fit for the Leafs.

Yes, Meier does have a $10 million dollar qualifying offer but can be signed for less.
TSN insiders estimate he will sign for $8.5 - $9 for 8 years.

I would make this deal in a heartbeat.
A top six of:
Bunting - Matthews - Nylander
Meier - Tavares - Marner
would be the best in the NHL.

You Can't trade Woll Hes your cheapest option as a back up for next year and if ther is one thing this team needs year after year is cheap options all over the ice.

They at the very least have to offer Meier 10M to qualify NOW they can negotiate of course but if he chooses to not to negotiate the leafs will ahve to trade him, they cant afford another 7 digit player HELL they cant afford another player north of 7M.

You get Meier you get rid of Nylander or Marner before Marner NTC kicks in provided u extend Meier. If you are forced to trade Meier leafs will get hosed as every team will know they have no choice but to trade him.
