Of the core 4, Mathews and Nylander have been the best. JT looks washed at times and Marner although playing decently, seems too one dimensional to me. He still has issues in tight checking games where as Wee Willy, is waiting for his payday in 2 years and making it known he wants 10+.

Of the 4 I would only keep Matthews
Franchise player generational talent plays Center
A keeper

Tavares is half baked can’t skate worth a damn anymore
Nylander is easily top 10 in the league if he would only give an effort every shift
Marner is a hell of a player but the dipsy doodle and drop passes kill the Leafs in tight games.

Imagine the haul we could get moving either nylander or marner!?

Which again (hate to sound like a broken record) brings me back to trying to acquire Meier who is a more complete player and flipping one of Nylander or Marner to Isles for a package of Dobson. Isles could yes either of those 2 on a line with Barzel and we get a top D man that has offensive skill.

What you all forgetting is Marner starting next year has a NTC and Tavares already has one and Matthews has on also that kicks in next season. I belive the only one willing to move on that is Matthews to move to Arizona. He'd been seen as the saviour and he'd be going home. IF Arizona were able to get Bedard also Not a bad 1-2 punch. Just saying. Hes an absolute amazing player but if Gretzky can get traded nayone can and with the leafs paying over 50% of the cap to 5 players and losing in the first round year after year this formula is not working.
