Hey Just wondering what you guys think about Connor Murphy out of Chicago? Good idea? What would you give for a big Dman with term ( we know Dubas loves that)

If a 2024 - 2nd round pick and a ‘B’ prospect is enough to land Connor Murphy I, for one, am all for it.
The problem becomes which player off the Leafs goes back to Chicago to offset Murphy’s $4.4 million dollar cap hit?
Also, does taking on $4.4 million against Leafs ever so tight cap for the next 3 years after this season, mean that the Leafs will not be able to afford to resign Bunting this summer.
I would much prefer to have Bunting on the team for the next 3 - 4 years than to have Connor Murphy if it came down to a choice.
There are many issues both present and future to consider when making a trade.

I do not disagree but I really do think we need that big nasty defenceman and Murphy fits the bill. I do think that any Trade Dubas does make for a piece we need is going to be a trade we lose - but hopefully gain that one piece we need. I mean every other general manager knows that Dubas certainly has his pills in a vice this season with no contract for the next and the core not getting any younger. Kind of seems like he just has to make at least one major move (this aint it) but I just think we do need a big D back there.

Murphy definitely fits a need this year (particularly the playoffs) but that $4.4 million he is owed for 3 more years after this season just does not fit Leafs cap constraints considering they must still resign Bunting, Samsonov, Kampf, Holmberg as well as Kerfoot, Engvall and Holl if they want them back.
