Now we have official word, who do we all think is hired as GM and (possibly) coach?

My money is on Hailey Whickenheiser. That strikes me as a "progressive" type move MLSE would get on board with.

I'd really like to see Gallant brought in as coach. It didn't end well in NY, but he's always been a solid coach elsewhere. I don't blame Gallant too much for that.

Respect her and what she’s done but no way she’s your next GM. Bold move for sure, but not the smart move. Shanahan already said that experience is important.

Shanahan said "experience is important" then tried to being back Dubas, after hiring Dubas. I take his comments with a grain of salt.

As I said awhile ago, I would like to see Gallant as coach. For GM, I wonder if they talk to Sutter or Treliving since Calgary let both go.

They want someone experienced in winning when it counts. So I'm leaning to winning pedigrees. Mark hunter is my top choice right now.

Not to be sexist as that what will be labelled here. To hire anyone Male or Female who has not been involved the game at this level is just missing an very key and important ingredient that makes a GM specical. The game at this level (lets be honest) the game at the OHL level compared to womens hockey is just to different. The physicality, the speed, the aggression. All the hockey sense in the world can not bring you those attributes unless you have played in an environment that has had you experience them.
Dubas was this guy 0 hockey experience at a high level and I do believe not knowing the importance of certain elements a player can bring to a team that go beyond a stat page was lost on him . To be a GM in any market not having playing the game at this high level is tough to do it in Toronto is impossible and unfair to that person.

I love the womans game I love the OHL I love minor Hockey. Watch my friends kids all the time as mine are grown. I would never label any of their hockey as the same as the higher tiers of the AHL or NHL. I wouldnt even put the ECHL or types of leagues in the same conversation. its just not fair.

I think Mark Hunter is a GREAT PICK. his successes with the Knights is legendary. He was with the leafs already as astt co Gm ( I guess it was called) 2014-2018. Got shafted IMO. Did get to learn from a very shrewed GM in Lou Lamerillo. So it wasnt all bad. He knows the players which is to me good and bad. Good as he is familiar with some and they need to make some quick decisions on some but bad in the sense that he may have loyalties that may cliud his judgment in trades (Marner specifically) not saying Marner should be traded just saying much less likely to have even a conversation if Mark Hunter is GM. I also heard way back when left the leafs that his rrapport with some people in and around the league was not the greatest. I have never found anything anywhere backing that up. I heard it on Sportsnet when Dubas was named the Gm and he left. Kypreos was on the tv along 2 others and they were talking about it.
Saw it heard it Never heard it again. So i call bull on that I think.
