I said awhile ago, I would have liked to see Torts brought in.

I don't think he's great long term, but he definitely would change the dressing room and weed out the cancer's.

As we know, Gallant would be my choice. He played the game. He could put up points while playing a tough game. He's gone deep in the playoffs as a player and as a coach. He had a pretty long NHL playing career, unlike Keefe.

He won't put up with guys who won't play hard. I don't think Treliving will either. Treliving was a pretty tough D-man himself. Leafs players won't be able to look at Gallant and think, "what do you know, you hardly played in the NHL. " Or look at Treliving and think "did you even play hockey", like Dubas where he hadn't played since he was 13 or 14 years old.

This stuff matters. Now is the right time to bring in a guy like Gallant because the 3 youngish forwards now have experience and having a guy behind the bench that has been there (played in the playoffs), is what these guys need.

Here’s why I don’t think the coach changes they have paid Babcock to sit at home for what 2-3 years only way I see keefe being let go is if the leafs start poorly also with barbashev’s great playoffs I’m not sure the leafs can afford a player like him.

You won't see a coaching change until Mathews signs. Once that happens, I give Keefe 10 games in before being fired. Mathews likes control, unless he wants him gone or he won't sign, Treliving is stuck.

I can see them making a coaching change before Matthews resigns. If Treliving feels someone is out there that would be a better fit, he would make the move and sell it to Matthews that he thinks this guy can get them over the top.

@WB49. That is so disingenuous without context and you know it.

Hartley was already there when Treliving arrived. So he didn't hire him. He kept him on and after two years replaced the coach he inherited with Gulutzan. He was replaced two years later by Peters who was fired because of the allegations against him and replaced with interm coach Ward in which the team did well for a bit, but he ultimately replaced him with Sutter who was not fired by Treliving. He had already resigned when Sutter was let go.
