I know I am not the only one tired of the culture of the mainstays on this team. I have wished for a long time they would shake it up.
Nash
Nylander $6.96M
Liljegren $1.4M
Timmins $1.1M
Tor
Fabbro $2.5M
Lauzon $2M
Trenin $1.7M
Wood ELC

Honestly I’d rather move Marner. I hate his responses to interview questions; he has a spoiled child way of acting, not someone willing to accept responsibility.
Probably the Leafs would get as much back or more than Nylander but also would get more cap room to make other needed changes.
Liligren has zero value now if he goes on LTIR. If his ankle is broken he will of course but I have yet to check that.
I’m also willing to wait on Timmins.
I like your targets.
So send Marner packing to Nashville or somewhere else.

Rsears. Depending on what the contracts will be going forward for Marner and Nylander, I might very well agree.
Although, I do think Willy beings in the better return right now. He's at $7M this year and likely around $10M to re-sign. Whereas Marner is already at $11M and may want a raise to keep him. Plus Marner has a no move.

Much rather send marner than Nylander. Include Samsonov and whatever else to get Sarros back.

@RLF I don't care if I get a bag of pucks for trading Marner, but I would trade him over Nylander any day of the week.
And I understand he has a NMC.
All we need us for Keefe/ Tre to show some balls and sit his ass till he asks for the trade.
Marner was 15 feet away from that play and he says in the post game scrum that he didn't see it, BS. If he didn't see anything, then why did he looked at the official to call a penalty?
03 Nov 2023 16:28:32
Marner has a no move clause so forget about trading him.

@Tags I've watched a few Canucks games recently, and JT Miller specifically reminds me of Marner/ Willy. Takes nights off, gets lazy on plays, etc. Tocchet is having none of it from anyone. Star or not, and JT is now looking like a superstar. Another example is when John Cooper benched his entire top line, in a losing game. Keefe would never do that.
My one question is whether Keefe is being told not too or not. Keefe walked back his comments about the top guys at one point and I assumed that came from Dubas. What if it was Shanny?

Nobody knows for certain if it’s under direction or his own coaching style.
One thing I have learned in life is if you’re going to get canned let it be a result of your decision not someone else’s.
Is BJ skipper Schneider going through that same dilemma now for his Berrios decision.
Players MUST be held accountable, lest they rule the roost.
Doesn’t need to be more complicated than that!

@LL. I'm with you on the Shanny thing. Dubas was bad. but i think Shanny was the the Wizard of Oz pulling the puppet strings. think he has more say than we know about what happens to this team. only way to explain why everyone came back again this year. this team needs to clean house from Shanny right to Marner and Willy. change the narative.
03 Nov 2023 19:24:39
I know we're all speculating, but I think we are right. Shanahan has been the puppet master all along. Maybe he's the one who needs to be let go.
03 Nov 2023 20:47:34
@Tags I been wanting Shanny gone for awhile as well. I wanted both Dubas and he gone 2 years ago.
We all blame Dubas for this team (rightfully so), but Shanny is the one that has to approve everything. He has to be held accountable.

Usually I find you proposals very interesting but this is really stretching things.
Leafs best winger and 2nd best defenseman for a package of third line, third pairing players?
Wow!
At the very least trade Marner not Nylander.

@WB49. I appreciate that you usually find my props interesting. Can't win them all I guess. lol
Curious on your breakdown of Nash players though. You say 3rd line guys and 3rd pair guys. Yes, Trenin is a 3rd liner and Lauzon a 3rd pair D. Fabbro is playing with Josi on the top pair this year. No? He's more a 2nd pair kind of guy though imo. He's a pretty solid defender and could make a good partner for Rielly. But it is really your take on Wood I am confused on. Your take on Wood is likely a 3rd liner? He's big, good skater and very skilled for his size. Taken 15th overall in this past draft and put up a point per games in the NCAA last season as an 18 year old. Guy projects as a big, top 6 RW. He would help alleviate the loss of Nylander in the future. Plus, the Leafs get over $3M in cap space.

Fabbro has also been a healthy scratch this year and is only playing with Jossi due to injuries and handedness.
