Leafs trade. Jarnknok Kampf

Utah 4 round pick

Leafs sign Marner 8 years x $13.5 million
Knies 8 years x $7 million
Tavaras 5 years x $5 million

Next year it doesn't get much easier to add more depth

Man 13.5 for a winger is rough he’s been great but the question still remains about the playoffs I do think they will resign him but I still give it more time also I try and get jt at a lower cap hit.

I don’t think that’s gonna work out. What about Wolls increase next year and McCabe? Guys on one year deals or at the end of their deals? . We don’t have the cap space for that. Why does JT have to be the one to go way below market value? Guy has been awesome. Still averaging a point a game like he has since he came here, best faceoff guy by a mile, still goes to all the dirty areas and rarely loses a puck battle yet you want him to make 5M or under while Mitch and Willy are making $25M+ between them? Just doesn’t make sense to me. We either trade Matthews/ Nylander or let Marner walk and to be honest the longer this goes, I’d be ok with a Matthews trade just for the package we would get back for him to add to this team who is already killing it without him.

Personally, I don't like any of those deals.

Why trade Jarnkrok when it looks like he may be out all season? You would lose the LTIR money then.
Kampf, Leafs may be able to let go, but he's a big body and come playoff time, that size has shown to be valuable.

Too much for Marner
Too much in both term and money for Knies. I see him as a 25 goal guy. No need to lock him up 8 years at $7M when even in two years he may not get more than that.
If JT is getting $5M, can't be for more than 3 years.

Unless we win the cup and Marner is the MVP. He isn't worth 13.5M, imo. I like Knies and could see him being a good player in the league, but hasn't earned that kinda money or term. Seems like a bridge deal candidate. Would 3 x 5M be fair?

I like Marner but do not believe that a winger should make more than Matthews, a #1 center.
A bridge deal for Knies unless he is willing to take $6 in exchange for term.
Tavares is 34 and a 5 year deal takes him to 39.
I don’t think Leafs should be offering more than 3 years max.
