Detroit could use some scoring and as we know, Leafs want a guy who can 3C with term. Michael Rasmussen could be a good player to target. He was Detroit's 3C, but Lalonde has tried to turn him into a winger and is now trying him back at C, but on the 4th line.
At $3.2M for another 3 years, that's a lot for a guy that they cut his playing time by 2 mins per game this year and now have him on the 4th line. I still think he can be a good 3C that puts up 25-40 pts per season while playing physical and defensively sound. He was over 50% on the dot as a 3C in the past.
Det
Kampf $2.4M
Robertson $.875M
Tor
Rasmussen $3.2M
Cap is pretty much even and Detroit gets a cheaper 4C and some possible scoring help for their 3rd line. Leafs get a potential 3C with term that should suit a Treliving/Berube style team.
There could be a bigger deal for Rielly to Detroit(doubt he would waive to got there)as I am sure Yzerman would love to have Rielly and they have the cap room to bring him in without much cap going out.

Never liked Rasmussen
Soft tissue dressed up as a big Scott towel.

Rasmussen is not physical, he’s just big.
25 Jan 2025 18:02:30
I guess you guys got me on that one. I mean, he only averages 143 hits per 82 game season and has dropped the gloves 4 times in his career. His 85 hits this season would put him 6th on the Leafs.
Boy do I feel foolish now. lol.

I wouldn’t mind acquiring Rasmussen for the 3rd line center slot.
I would be concerned about trading Robertson though.
With Pacioretty’s ongoing injury issues Leafs only have Knies and McMann plus a lot of 4th line left handlers but no one to man the 3rd line LW slot.
Unless, of course, you plan to make a second trade to acquire Trent Frederic or Brandon Tanev to flank Rasmussen.
I don’t think Grebenkin is ready for the big dance yet.

Yes he is real intimidating.

Leafs need a much higher impact player they will get team to retain salary and go high impact player.

Physical and intimidating aren't the same thing hogwash. I didn't say he was intimidating. He sure isn't soft tissue like you claim. Nice try to move the goal posts to try and still be correct though.

Lol
Keep changing the narrative RLF
He’s soft as melted butter
As is your logic.

No change of narrative Grumpy. We all leave that to you. Like the all the changes of your name.

If you actually had a grasp of the English language Grumpy, you would know there is a difference.
McMann is physical, but he doesn't intimidate anyone. Same with Lorentz.
