The team needs depth

I think Domi McMann Robertson Laughton Lorentz Pacioretty are worth keeping they all bring different things. It doesn’t sound like Pacioretty wants to come back .

Leafs have Marner up in the air I think when he chills out he starts wanting to stay. Treliving said talent doesn’t grow on trees and Marner is a special player .


Treliving needs more forwards so there is limit where he can go with Marner.

Two trade chips with full no move clauses are Nylander and Reilly . Marner has far more value than Willy because he plays in every situation and is great in his own end .

The problem is you can’t regress so the trade chip is Reilly. He is not great defensively and doesn’t score enough so he is weak at both ends.

Robertson is simply not a 4th line style of “hard to play against” player.
Bring in FA Brazeau to fill that roll.

Cowan has never played a regular season NHL game.
It’s equally possible he doesn’t even make the team.
It might be better for Cowan’s development to start the season with the Marlies unless he is lights out in training camp.

Not a big fan of Mangiapane, particularly in the top 6.

If Leafs were able to sign Bennett it would be a big plus but I see him headed back to Florida, a non tax state, for another shot at going to the Finals.

I would love to see Reilly moved but feel that at $7.5 million for 5 more years. a deteriorating game and a NTC he will be hard to move. f.
