So I've suggested kane before and no one loved it my pitch for him is an all American top line kane is still putting up good numbers and still seems to score clutch goals at 3 mill 20 goals 40-50 assists is a value contract.

Bennett no need to explain what he brings not crazy about him but he shows his value in the playoffs I'd try and keep term down if I'm the leafs.

Resign jt still productive I think they can defer salary to get the deal done Cowan on the second third line depending on how he performs

Bennet should get 6m/ year imo. Maybe 7. Anything else will be an overpay from someone. His career high in points is 51 in a contract year. If he wasn't good in the playoffs he'd be a 3C worth 3.5m.

Would love to talk about this topic and how Bennett isn’t worth 7-8M? You really believe that? Because he doesn’t have as many regular season points as Marner or Matthews? He gets more points per game than Marner and Matthews in playoffs when it matters. So if winning playoffs and the Stanley Cup is the goal, how can Bennett not be with 4-5M less per season than two guys he gets more points than every year from April on.

@Clarky as much as we all crap on these guys for being poor in the playoffs (justifiably), reg. season still does mean something. A team full of Bennett's doesn't make the playoffs.

As a playoffs performer, he's worth the 6-7m. As a reg season guy he's a 3C worth 3.5m. If you isn't to split the difference and give the guy 5m I'm good with it, but you need to be careful with someone like him. Fla is a force of a team playing extremely well together. I'm not actually sure he replicates it on another team.

Huberdeau was a machine in Fla. He left and they won the cup while he never returned to form. Cautionary tale.

Methinks, in trying to make your point, you got a little excited!
He scored 25g 26a which gets a team 12x25 or 300 goals in a regular season from the forwards only! The Leafs scored 268, contributed by 23+ skaters.
Your point that the regular season matters is statement I can support.

Thank you Randy. LL I don’t feel that way. I think guys that perform year after year in playoffs when hockey is at its toughest deserve the most money. Isn’t the Cup the end goal? Not getting the most regular season points for your franchise? Bennett is worth more than our core 4 IMHO. Would take him in a heartbeat to shed one of the guys that ghost in playoffs.

I'd like Bennett as much as most leaf fans but the contract has to make sense 7.5 I think is the max. I'd rather marchand and Tanev for almost the same money on shorter term deals.
