The only way I see Bennett getting possibly $10M is on a shorter term deal, like 3-4 years. Only buying his best years in that case.
On 7 years, Personally, I see something in the $8M-$8.75M per range. It will also depend on if "where he wants to play" is most important. He is a massive competitor, can't see him just chasing the highest bid if he doesn't want to play there or it is a rebuilding team.

How is Bennett not worth 10M (in a Canadian market with taxes)? Ideally we would want to sign him for less. But this guy is leading the NHL in playoffs goals. So he shouldn’t get paid more for playing his best hockey in the SC playoffs? We gave double digits to 4 guys that did ? in playoffs but hey they do wonderful things in the regular season. ?.

Bennett isn't worth $10M because regular season success is always a factor. Even though Bennett has had playoff success, it isn't a guarantee that it will continue. Then you are giving $10M for a 40-50 pt guy and no one would/ should do that. $8-$8.75M IS factoring in playoff success imo. If he wasn't good in the playoffs he would be worth $5-$6M likely.

$10 million is simply too large a commitment for a player who’s physicality is a large part of his game and physicality tends not to last as long in the NHL. Only on a 4 year deal would I want to Offer Bennett that kind of money.
