Just for assumption sake, let's assume Marner would choose Vegas in a sign and trade.
VGK
Marner signed at 8X$13M
OEL $3.5M(assuming VGK is not on his 16 team list)
Tor
Pietrangelo $8.8M
Roy $3M
Vegas gets Marner for 8 years and overall younger. OEL gives them an SC winning D that can play both sides who is signed an extra year than Piet.
Toronto picks up a Cup winning RD who at 35, is starting to slow down some but can still play big minutes. He is a local boy from King City and may waive to play his last couple seasons in his hometown. They also get a 3C/RW in Roy. They add even more size, which we know Tre likes.

Isn’t pietrangelo hurt or damaged goods?

Leafs2425- It is a rumour all based on Friedman saying someone told him he may not be available for the Olympics next year. He played all the playoff games avg over 23 mins a night with 6 pts in 10 games.
If he is done (which is not what Friedman said), he wouldn't pass a medical and the trade couldn't go through.

I like it.
Pietrangelo would have been a good addition when he was a free agent.
He is still an impactful RHD.
Roy is an effective 3rd line center something desperately lacking in Leafs lineup.
It gives Vegas cap room to add Marner and it gives Leafs two players that would fit well into their lineup.

The future of star defenceman Pietrangelo already is in question regarding the Golden Knights future. There are those in front offices around the NHL who wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Pietrangelo has played his last NHL game — and that the long-term injury relief from the final two years of his $8.8 million per year contract would put the Knights in position to be able to afford Marner.
Hmm…. ?.

I think Simmons from the Sun wrote that. No?
He may be injured and done, he may not be. Reporters don't know for sure either way.
“Every year, I hear, ‘Oh, Pietrangelo is so badly beaten up, and he’s put his body through so much, and he’s not going to be able to play next season, ’” responded Friedman. “And every year I get told, ‘That’s wrong. ’ And every year, he’s back, and he plays, and he plays hard, and he plays great.
Hmmmm.

Really like this sign and trade.
Pietrangelo is still a very effective defenseman with only a two year commitment.
Nicolas Roy would fill Leafs long time need for a good sized physical 3rd line center.
I am not an OEL fan and would not mind seeing him (and Reilly) moved off of the Leafs defense.
