Definitely like to see Marchment return to the Leafs.
Another terrible trade by Dubas sending him to Florida for the 165 pound, Smurf, Denis Malgin.
It made no sense whatsoever.

Dallas won't want to take money back. They're trying to dump salary.

@wb you're using hindsight years later. We didn't know what he would be when he was traded. We could probably keep Kampf.

Hrenklin

No hindsight involved.
I said it at the time that it was another bad decision by Dubas simply based on the fact that Leafs needed physicality in the worst way and Marchment was 6’5”, 212 pounds while Malgin was 5’10”, 165 pounds.
It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Thai was an exceedingly bad move!

@Hrenklin I don't think anyone thought that was a good trade at the time either. It was obviously brutal. Margin had zero upside and Marchment had a chance to be a middle 6 guy. Dubas just made the trade to do him a favour.

I would rather keep McMann. I know most are down on him because he didn't produce in the playoffs, but his size, speed and contract make him valuable.

As for the Marchment trade, I hated it from the start and said so on this site as well as others did on here back then.

To me McMann is who we want to be a Marchment, so why not trade him for the player we want him to be. It's getting pathetic watching everyone complain about the leafs doing the same thing over and over again but don't want to trade anyone because they like failure apparently.

Hrenklin. I don't mean keep McMann over Marchment. I mean have both. McMann is not a long time part of this team, like the core. Last year was only his second season with the Leafs and 1st full-time. McMann was part of the change we have been wanting. More size and speed that will play the body and battle along the boards and in front of the net. Removing him and replacing him with Marchment is a more sideways than moving forward. Having both is moving forward. Knies, McMann, Laughton, Marchment and try to sign Jeannot and then we have more balance around Matthews, Nylander and if JT is back.

As for wanting change, I have been one of the most vocal on here for change for years now.

I decided on McMann cuz Robertson to Dallas for them to trade his brother was a not gonna happen trade.
