Dallas and Colorado are two teams I would target if I'm the leafs both are right at the cap
Tor: Robertson 2027 3rd
Dal: marchment
Tor: 3rd 2025 hildaby maybe another pick or prospect
Avs: Coyle
So both moves are cap dumps Dallas has 3-4 ufas they would like to bring back so likely won't cost too much for marchment. The Ava trade is a bit harder simply because the avs don't have to make that trade but I'm going off of the fact that they had a bad playoff and they don't have money to make any changes to their roster what makes Coyle attractive to me is that he's not a long term contract he's in the final year of his deal and if it doesn't work out in Toronto they can flip him

If that is all it is going to take to get Marchment back, I'm in. But I think it will cost more. Leafs aren't the only team that will be interested.
Because Coyle has a No-move, he can pretty much call the shot on where he goes and again, probably take more to get him.

@RLF well they sign duchene today now only have 400k and benn and grandlund to sign I’m not saying he will be cheap but I don’t think it’s a big price as for coyle it’s a 3 team no trade according to puck pedia.

Goat. I just think there will be better offers for Marchment than Robertson and a 3rd that's 3 drafts from now. He's a 20+ a year goal scorer who is sound defensively and a good size. $4.5M contract (although for only 1 more year) is really good value. I believe it is Seguin they will try to move if possible. That opens up some real cap space, more than double what Marchment makes.
As for Coyle, I saw that too, but also says he has a No move. It's confusing. Not sure how you can have a No move, but a 3 team no trade at the same time. That would be a partial no trade, not a no move.

You weren't too far off Goat. It was only slightly better than what you had got Marchment.

Marchment just went to Seattle for a 2nd and a 3rd.

Wow that was a complete salary dump, a 2025 4th & 2026 3rd.
Charlie Coyle may not go for much more, especially if Colorado is able to sign Toews.
Keep an eye open Tre.
BTW Coyle contract was NMC for years 1 & 2, then 8 team No Trade for years 3-5 and now 3 team No Trade for year 6.

Tre needs to be quicker on the draw. Lost out on Marchment and available options will continue as teams prepare for July1.
Avs need to do something for sure; they have but $1.2 cap space and need NHL roster players on both D and F.
Leafs send Jarnkrok and Myers for Coyle freeing a little more than $3m for the Avs.
There are of course other needs for the Leafs but this answers on need.

Leafs didn't get a trade done for Marchment because they don't have the assets. Seattle's picks are higher in the draft order and it may also be that Toronto was on Marchment list for No trade.

Tags,
What I see on Puckpedia for Coyle's contract is;
NMC
M-NTC year 1-2: 10 team no trade
year 3-5: 8 team no trade
Year 6: 3 team no trade
An NMC has always meant - can't be traded, sent to the minors or even waived without player consent. If he has a No move each year which means you can't trade him, he doesn't need a M-NTC as the NMC trumps it.

RLF
Accept Marchment might have had his former team who undervalued his potential on his no-trade list but still believe a package could have been assembled.

Rsears. Fair enough. What could the Leafs have offered that would beat what Seattle offered?
20 Jun 2025 23:28:58
Yes RLF you're right, I misread the opening part of the term. It definitely is contradicting.
