My ideal contract for Knies. 8Y X 67.5M.
Year 1 - 5.5M goes up 500K every year for the full 8 years.
Year 2 - 6M, Year 3 - 6.5M and so on, year 8 he is making 9.5M. He will be underpaid for the first couple years of his contract and RN the latter years seams like an overpay. But with cap going up and Knies would be coming into his prime, it may play out to be a great contract for us.
** key to this contract is a Full NM for the first 4 years. Years 5&6 5 - 5 team trade clause. Years 7 & 8 - 10 team trade clause.
Fair for both sides? What we think here?

@Clarky17
The AAV has to be the same across all eight years, so it doesn't matter how we pay him.
In your scenario 67.5M over 8 years would be an AAV of $8.4375, which is high IMO.

He will get 9 million
Tavares 6 million
Tredeadthing has no clue.

I looked it up and I seen you can increase salary from year to year basis as long is it isn’t more than 35%? Anyone know the rules in this? I don’t think 500K is a problem if there isn’t a rule against it.

Salary can be changed year to year, but the AAV has to be the same throughout the term.

I imagine Knies will be between $8 - $8.5 on a 5 or 6 year deal.
Tavares has resigned for $4.38 x 4 years.
