Montreal lands Dobson but are now 3+ million over the cap here's my pitch

Tor: 2nd (64)
Mtl: dach

It works for both dach hasn't worked there they need space Toronto takes a chance on a young guy with only one year left they could use him at centre but they don't have to

I don't think it is far off. He only had 15 even strength points last season. Bad injury history. Maybe add Holmberg to get the deal done as Holmberg would be a cheap replacement for them losing Dach.
Now the big question. Is getting Dach something the Leafs should do?

And Habs still need to sign there back up! So they definitely need to trade someone.

I like Dach as a player but he has never completed a full season as a professional without a serious injury.
Guys who are chronically injured tend to continue to be chronically injured throughout their career.
I would prefer a player who has a chance to play 70 - 82 games in a season.

I would do this trade just based on Dach's potential vs a second rounds potential.
