So you want to trade a 33yr old right handed 4line rw, and a 30 yr old 3line LW for a 35 yr old 3line LW who like the leafs, have never once made it to the Stanley Cup final. What exactly does Toronto get by having to shed even more salary for a 7m dollar contract?

I like Lee but he would have to be half retained. I’d give them Maccelli, Robertson, 2nd 2027. He would be a nice fit along JT and Nylander.

I personally don’t see Maccelli being a guy to put us over top in playoffs. Don’t give him a chance to form relationships. I’d personally rather keep McMann over him too. Yes McMann didn’t have a great playoffs but it was also his first run not the 9th like the other guys. At 1.35M give him this year under Berube to see if we can get more consistency out of him.

Maccelli is a 24 year old playmaker that produced 57 points just 2 years ago on a mediocre Arizona team. Her is also is under control for the next 3 years.

Never forget Michael Bunting. Take a 15-20 point bottom 6 guy and put him next to elite players and he becomes a 50-60 point guy. Maccelli is more skilled than Bunting.

I think Maccelli could be a 60-70 point player if he plays Top 6 for the Leafs and gets time on the 2nd PP.

He was doing so good on a bad Arz team that they healthy scratched him most of his 3rd season in the NHL. So even though the points are good, he must lack in effort, defensive play and physicality because Arz didn’t think his 60pts was worth keeping him in the lineup as a regular.
