Grzelyk is a 5’9” or 5’10” and 180lb D. He has skills and can move the puck and even play on the PP but he’s too small which is why he’s still unsigned.

No on Kostin. Maybe on Campbell but Reimer, Gergiev, Samsonov are also available

Our priorities are (in order) :
1) shed some contracts. Otherwise they’ll be packaging draft picks to get someone to take rhe contracts off their hands
2) sign or trade for a Top 6 forward with space created in Step 1
3) puck moving D that can play point on the PP with the space created in Step 1
4) big defensive shutdown D if we can’t get a puck moving PP D
5) depth goalie in case of injuries (but we also have Hildeby so not as critical)

Waivers aren’t really a solution unless you expect another team to take them and you get nothing. If they clear waivers they are buried. But, a team only gets $1.25M of cap relief. Anything over that is a Buried penalty. That is why Reaves was still driving a $100K cap penalty. No sense trying to bury a guy, still take the cap hit then call up someone else (e. g Cowan) and taking another cap hit for that guy. Need to find a trading partner or keep them.

Huge pass on Roslovic.
Roslovic was one of only two regulars to be a minus player on the Carolina Hurricanes leading the team with a -10.
In 81 games Roslovic had only 14 hits.
Not the kind of DNA change Leafs are looking for.

Kostin Campbell and Gryzlick have all had various opportunities with multiple team and have been unable to stick.
Why would they suddenly become valuable because the Leafs signed them?

Roslovic is 28 and had 22 goals and is a right winger.
If u get him in the 3-3.5mil range for 3yrs it’s a good deal. You r putting him on a line with 2 elite two way players in Knies and Matthews. On that line he will get you 30goals. Pass on Terry.

WB grezlyk had 40hrs last season. If u move Rielly he can slide in at a huge discount and get you the same production if not more.
