Sorry, not even close to fitting under the cap. The Leafs would need $10.825M in cap space to do as you suggest. They have $6.44M. Over by about $4.5M. You can't have all of a players cap hit retained. Even if you got another team to retain the other 50% on Quick, you would still have a cap hit of $1.45M. Even then, you are still over by about $3M.

Guys like Kase aren't going to sign so you can put them in the minors. Knies doesn't have a contract, so that would have to be added, although he says he is going back to school anyway. You've got 3 guys signing "discount" deals, which rarely happens.
Plus, Dubas doesn't have to figure out your proposal. You do:)

Why would Dylan Strome sign a 2-year $2m contract?
He’s made $3m in each of last 2 years and just had a 22g 26a season in 69 games!
Personally I’m not interested in Foligno or Subban and I’m at best lukewarm on Murray.
You might be a little light on Domi and while others don’t like him I’d definitely have interest at that price.
I’d also love to have Marchment back but hopefully on a lower salary. He’s had one good year so maybe he’s signable at $3m.
