Idk if dubas loves Marner enough to make this deal, but he might, it's a risk that Crosby regresses but also might be worth it just to rid ourselves of Marner.

Trading Samsonov rights means nothing the CGY unless he indicates he will sign with them. In which case they can wait until July 1 and get him for nothing . Crosby retires a Penguin…. no doubt.

Samsonov just let's them have a solidish goalie. When you are trading your starter, rights mean a little more, hence why they were included. More of a courtesy than adding anything of real value.

Crosby it is hard to say if he retires a penguin, I also think he likely does, but he did say around the deadline he'd waive to go to Toronto or Colorado.
