One of trade idea.
Toronto acquires Anthony Beauvillier in exchange for Nick Robertson (RFA) and Dakota Joshua. No draft picks are included in the trade.

Except for some cap savings I’m not sure what this accomplishes!
And the Leafs have enough 5.11 183 pound forwards.

Why would the Leafs have to give up two guys for Beauvillier? Maybe I am missing something, but what does he bring that either Robertson or Joshua on their own don't or can't bring?

When Healthy Joshua is a more impactful player that Beauvillier by himself without Robertson in the deal. I would love to see Joshua 100 percent healthy without the cancer from 2 years ago and the lacerated kidney fro this past December. He has more to show us than we have seen.

Well considering how Joshua was misused with Roy and Lorentz. I think he had a pretty good year being all things considered. He started to hit his stride somewhat at beginning of December with 4 goals in 7 games. Then hurt his back but still toughed it out for 6 games and then got the hit against the boards that lacerated his kidney.
He played 55 games, 49 of them healthy, mostly on 4th line and sometimes 3rd line. Still led the team with 195 hits (25) in the league.
He still managed 10 goals, 18 points in a misused spot. That’s not useless. Beauvillier played top 6 in Washington and still only managed 28 points and less than half of Joshua’s hits 93 but in 82 games.
If Matthews stays I would like to see Knies on his left and Joshua on his right. There will be a lot pucks knocked loose with those wingers for Matthews to pounce on. It would be different style line for Matthews but could let him also turn more playmaker a bit too.

Nope just being honest. Everyone says we need to be a hitting team, so here is a trade that sends away our top hitter for a lightweight that scores less than 30 points as a top 6 forward. Makes no sense and to add Robertson as well? Rediculous trade. Hey is he is healthy and utilized right and can't perform then yes he needs to be traded of buried on the 4th line.
But he has not had a full season to prove what he can do. He showed in Vancouver he is capable in a full season of being a productive player. Not just regular season but in Playoffs as well.
