It's a tough call. By trading Matthews you would get Strome (who could be a great centre in his own right, but not a game changer like Matthews), currently the 11th overall pick (landing maybe Keller, Dubois, Gautier, Sergachyov), and then another pick in the 10-20 range next year.

I for one would pass. Getting a game changer top centre is too good to pass up. In today's salary cap nhl teams like the Blackhawks and kings have shown that you put all your money into 6 pillar players, with 2-4 pieces thrown in, drafting a pillar player is more valuable than a bunch of pieces (especially when all the contracts will come up at the same time)

Intriguing proposal. Getting 1st round picks from the Coyotes is always good cause you never know when they're going to be good. Remember they made the conference finals one year than a lottery pick the next? I will tell you this, Stu Skinner is on the leafs radar for the 2017 draft.
