TOR- JVR, Gardiner, Kapanen, 2017 1st (top 10 protected)

Jets laugh. Ehlers is a first line LW. Trouba a 2/3 d-man. JVR is an older player who doesn't fit in the Jets youth movement. Kapanen can't crack a terrible Leafs lineup. When would the Jets collect on that 1st round draft pick as it may take the leafs 2 or 3 years to finish above the 10th worst team in the NHL.

Ehlers is a lightweight, one dimensional, Europuff, but has done pretty well in his first year; a massive 38 pts in 72 games. JVR after getting away from Phatdog, had 30pts in 40 games until injured early on. (I guess you could say he took one for the tank).

Gardiner has Trouba's offensive output beat hands down (and on the worst D in the league). On the flip side Trouba has the defensive side much more in check than Gardiner and he's younger by 3 and change years.

So Tor pays Kappy-19 yr with potential and a top ten 1st rounder as balance for Trouba's D skills.

That's too much from Tor. I don't really care for Ehlers puff play. JVR is a higher class of player and more complete and has produced more. And in the same vein, Trouba is a more complete player than Gardiner, but Gardiners offense is better, way better.

So either lose Kappy or the 1st; then it's a good deal; despite islandjet's undervaluement of JVR & Gardiner.

So if JVR would be fair deal for Trouba, then you are saying that Ehlers is worth.

Not a chance, the Leafs first ask if it's April Fool's day then hang up the phone!

JVR is the only All-Star player amongst that group btw
