Winnipeg will want a lot more for Jacob Trouba who I don't think is going anywhere. Roman josi would be a great add to any team but he is not going to be available.

mph1. Both teams would be nuts to do those trades but let say they do. Then you have to look at it from Toronto's side and who are they going to protect in the expansion draft? I'm guessing Trouba and Josi because you just traded for them. Now you have to protect Reily and your losing Gardner for nothing? Then I guess your going to have to protect 4 D-man and ONLY 4 forwards.

Toronto would be fine protecting only 4 forwards, especially is Bozak is gone. All of our young talent is exempt. Toronto would say yes to both of these trades but Winnipeg and Nashville wouldn't. More pieces need to be added from Toronto on both trades. I don't like all the young talent leaving Toronto though. The jets trade would be good even if we had to give up a second as well. I'd propose JVR for Josi and try to get a 1st from Nashville as well. JVR and Matthews don't play together for a reason. They are both net front presences who do little work in corners of the offensive zone. They both need someone to get them the puck (hyman, marner) to be effective.
