Leafs trade JVR 50% retained

Ottawa trades Thomas Chabot Andreas Englund and 2nd in 2019

Those are two best defence prospects Ottawa have and they don't hold a second pick til 2019.

Both of them are LH D; while they look good we would become overloaded on the LH side. Change one of them to Logan Brown. We still need another big power center with offensive talent.

This kid is doing well. Think of a Dave Andreychuk type, in front of the net for Marner to pass to.

Thomas chabot and Logan brown would be a great return. Thomas chabot is looking like he is going to be a high end big minute d-man at the nhl level, and Logan brown has alight ceiling and tons of talent. 74 points in 59 games for Windsor last year. He's also 6'6 210 so he's got good size too.

Ottawaneedss to do one thing and my point is that only Toronto can take back 50%. Back from a. Player they trade. So many teams are right up against cap so Leafs. Must be able to flex some muscle in trade talks. Ottawa need to win now if they stay as is leafs pass them.

I can't see Ottawa trading their best prospects away just to make it into the playoffs. They are not that dump! Only teams that are willing to do that are the teams that have a chance to win the cup. I think there is only one team out of the playoffs that Toronto should target for a trade like this and it's NYI. They need to do something to keep there best player (John Tavares)

happy or he is going to walk as a UFA next year!

If I was a dreamer, I would love to see something like

Toronto trade JVR

NYI for RHD Ryan Pulock and the 1st 17 pick (I'm thinking it would be 27 -26 range) and then go after John Tavares when he becomes a UFA.

The Islanders would have to add another prospect. JVR's value is extremely high right now. Islanders would have to add Mathew Barzal, or Michael Dal Colle to the trade as well.

SBS is right that's the trade and leafs take 50% of JVR contract islanders tight against cap. I don't think you can squeeze more from New York we are talking a pick that could be first overall.

You overrate Pulock. He had two decent but not great years in the AHL and has produced nothing at the NHl level in 16 games. He is a medium prospect that is overvalued because he is a RH Dman.

Two prospects, one top notch, one good, and a 1st is what the asking price should be for JVR; and if they say no, you move on.

There are 28 other suitors in the league, and we have a year and a half to get it done.
