So pens give up to proven young d man that has helped them win the Stanley cup. A good young prospect foward and a first? For just JVR? Pens will never do that because their d will just become even more weaker losing two young quality d of the future. And pens won't win the cup doing this trade.

I disagree dd. pouliot is a dman, Sprong is a Fwd, draft pick is? . I think you are being biased in the pens favour. their chances of winning the cup improve with jvr than without him!

Yup DD I agree 100% with you. Maata and a 1st for JVR is pushing it for Pittsburgh so the original offer is way to much.

If maata is part of the deal then it is too much. Sprong pouliot and a 1st is pretty close. Sprong is a good prospect, pouliot is not a proven nhl defenceman, although he could be very good. Not exactly what the leafs need. He has played like 5 games in the nhl this year. And the 1st will be in the high 20's.

They wouldn't give up Sprong or Pouliet two years ago. Neither are that spectacular. I'd say it's about right since the Pens are a contender still. It will be a low first; much less value.

One of the reasons they might not want to trade them is the lack of anything else on the farm. That farm is empty. Oh, wait they have Percy Stewart.
