A few trades to change up the roster for next year

First, the potential deal of Rielly to the Sharks:

To SJS: D - M. Rielly

To TOR: F - Q. Musty + 2026 2nd

San Jose gets the veteran D to help them clinch a playoff berth next year. Leafs pick up a 2023 prospect who still has not made the NHL plus a 2nd.

and

To BUF: D - B. Carlo + 2027 2nd + 2026 3rd

To TOR: D - B. Byram

Buffalo has multiple RFA's that need new deals plus trying to sign Tuch. Byram can also sign a new extension, but has this 1 last year on his current deal. The log jam on D creates a situation for them to make a move.

Carlo's deal is half the cost of Byram.

and

To PHA: G - J. Woll + F - M. Maccelli

To TOR: RW - O. Tippett

Philly has a huge logjam at RW. With Konecny long term, plus Martone and Foerster, who Foerster can sign an extension this summer and Martone needing a new deal next year, they can parlay Tippett into a starting goalie.

and

To UTA: F - N. Robertson

To TOR: C - B. Hayton

Would look to upgrade at top pairing RHD as well as depth RW players.

Would rather Lauzon UFA and Raddyish than Stecher and Benoit.

Groiux will be the fourth line center next year.
And they will probably sign at least 2-3 UFA forwards.

Your evaluations are a tad off. Reilly isn’t getting that return, neither is Carlo. Right idea, but truthfully Reilly maybe gets them a pick and a blue chip prospect unless the Leafs are packaging something with him that has good value… And Carlo same thing, he’s got some value because he makes so little.

I’d rather keep him and then maybe use his as trade bait at the deadline. I don’t believe he is as bad as he was last year, so if the Leafs could add another righty and move Carlo down it could look different

Actually I think Tbuds proposals are very good.
I quite like the targets and think the opposing teams would view the proposals as legit.

The Sharks absolutely need D so a 2nd and Musty are certainly close. And I think “tad” means close.

The Sabres need to offload salary (Byram) if they want to resign Tuch. They will then need a responsible Dman at half the price; enter Carlo.

A 2nd and a 3rd add value!

I love the Philly trade, might consider replacing Woll with Stolarz but not sure.

Exchanging RFAs with Utah is also a good one.

Personally I don’t resign Stecher and I’d trade Benoit for a 3rd or 4th and replace with UFA Logan Stanley for his toughness.
