Overheard an interesting conversation with a couple of guys tonight. The more I thought about it, the more it intrigued me. Everyone talks about someone pushing the limit on Chicago on a crazy offer sheet on Bedard. Chicago has the money to match of course but would not like it. The thing is he would have to accept it for it to have any credence and it sounds like he does like it in Chicago. Comes down to his health and as we said the term and the value. The other one talked about is an offer sheet to Fantilli by Philly if they don't get Carlsson or Pittsburgh offering.
The one guy said Chicago should throw a wrench into everyone's plans and offer sheet Fantilli at $15m for 3 years.
Just enough that Columbus can't match after Sillinger and Greaves are done arbitration. Then to not screw up their cap and have to trade a major player Chicago signs Bedard for $15m for 3 as well. It would not be the $18 of Carlssons but it would also send a message to both players Chicago is serious about building a cup team. They could be the new Toews and Kane the guy said. I was very intrigued. Davidson seems to me he is the kind of guy that could do that. They still have good prospects coming up. And still even if they gave up 4 firsts still have another 1st next year along with multiple 2nds?
Would you do this?

If we are talking hypotheticals for Chicago the answer is 1000x yes they should do something like that. They have been rebuilding for too long and they’re going to lose Bedard if they don’t make something happen soon. The first round pick mean nothing. They need to be good now.

Yeah hypothetical. But looking at things... not out of the realm really when I thought about it. We know Bedard will be matched for sure by Chicago. But Fantilli... another story and realistically, although some of the big teams like Florida, Vegas, etc. are always mentioned in these things. The only teams that truly have the cap and picks to do a offer on Fantilli in the $15 range are Pittsburgh (barely now), Philly if Anaheim matches Carlsson or Anaheim if they don't match.
Seattle, Vancouver and Detroit.
My gut feeling is Yzerman offer sheets on Fantilli then he has his Centre to replace Larkin and then he starts to shop Larkin to the highest bidder for a Scoring Winger. (Knies maybe?)

@suff idk man Larkin would fix a glaring hole for us but… still think that we trade Knies for almost any player we lose the trade when we look at it by the end of the window. He’s a very hard player to replace.
