I think Columbus not naming Werenski captain says a lot about their expectation he stays with the team long term. Listening to some of the podcasts of “insiders” seems like others agree. I don’t think we should rule them out on Werenski.

Cowan’s stock is pretty high right now, Columbus wants players more than prospects, and we’ve got a good relationship with Don Waddell and Columbus

We have 7mil in space so the money works and Columbus would want a Defenceman back (reason they wanted Andre in Marchenko deal) so OEL can still play 2nd pair


Or would we rather pay Danford and Colorodo’s first for Nikishin?

Unfortunately, Cowan is making it difficult to trade him. Add that we just traded Knies. I'm not sure 1. of the other young wingers is the best course of action right now.

I agree he’s going to be a great player, but if Columbus is even close to as high on him as we are, just positionally a winger for a top 3 defenceman in the league is a no brainer to me.
