Michalek had a no trade clause in Ottawa and Leaf management talked him into coming to Toronto in the trade. So Michalek will be staying all this season or Lou has to eat his hat.

I don't remember hearing that. And most NTC are partial where they have to submit a list of teams they are willing to go to. Michalek is by no means a player that will be focused on with the leafs but a filler to make that trade happen. He will be more than expendable if the leafs can find a landing spot for him.

If I am not mistaken, Once a player waives his NTC isn't it up to the players new club to see if they want to honour the NTC in the future or get rid of it? I could be wrong, it could be something that is negotiated

Well Subban's NT went with him and his contract to NSH so I think it sticks

Subban didn't waive it though. He was traded before his NTC came into effect I believe

Although I do think the NTC move with the contract, totally disagree that he will be staying all year. If the Leafs can move him to a contender at the deadline I am pretty sure he waives it again to go.
