Even if edmonton agreed to this deal (doughtful), the leafs would be taking on 6 milion extra in cap. Even with the 10% overage allowed during the offseason this deal puts the 9 million over the cap. that's 850 grand over.

The deal itself is very favorable for the leafs. Not saying it could never happen just that the odds of edmonton agreeing to a deal like this has to be under 5%. Hey I've seen crazier things happen before.

Come on guys you seriously think a cap dump. A questionable prospect a first and 2nd will get you two really good dmen. Come on at least try to take off the homer glasses.

I personally think this deal favours Edmonton. Consecutive early round draft picks and 2 players that are still developing but can be considered 1st round draft choices already part way through the development process. a total overpay in my mind redwing. Especially since no one really wants gagne.

Maybe if it wasn’t Edmonton’s best two LHD. For one thing, we don’t need another two LHD. For another, Edmonton won’t give up their best two without having Dermott come in as replacement. Take out one of the incoming players and insert Larsson, and the deal becomes more reasonable in terms of team needs and suitability. Leafs add still need to add. Edmonton would want a roster player back is my guess. This deal does nothing to help Edmonton this year. If they did this trade it would mean they are rebuilding again. I’m not sure Holland wants to go that route. I think expectation is on him to turn Edmonton around quickly, like Lou did with Leafs.

Add Kapanen or Dermott and this gets considered.
