Day dreamers be gone! Kap and johnsson in and around 4 mil each depending on term. ( if matthews can hold out to help the team) at 11.7. then picture marner singing an 8 yr. whilst holding out at a healthy 12. cause that's holding out. right? I can't help but think I'm the only one on this page. there is no way we can keep Johnson kap zaitsev Marleau kadri nylander and Matthew's next year. All for a nylander zaitsev to Carolina for everything we need. Right shot and cap relief.

What a horrific display by the leafs tonight. Up against hype and energy (playoff-esque) like game and no one shows up for their boy JT. Not even a hit. very disappointing in my mind. What a piss off of a game. I can only imagine a Boston first round. Yikes. This team is not ready.

You guys do realize zaitsevs NTC kicks in July 1st which means we can't trade him so that 4.5 is stuck in the defense corps. Dubas screwed the pooch on the deadline in that matter. IMO.

It’s a modified NRC. He submits a list of 10 teams he will not accept a trade to. That still leaves 21 teams left we can dump him on.

Not enough for patches who I wouldn't want regardless because he's most likely just on a decline in his latter years and we already have a Marley and you traded our top pick so most likely your draft day "steals" may never see nhl ice time. No from tdot and from mtl.

I still say no. the future of the team is riding on a 5 year Matthew's/ slash taveras plan and you give up the next 5 years of 1sts. lol (I may be wrong but we don't have a first in 2020) that's a laughable "ohhh stop it now babe" in my mind! Leaves ruined for foreseeable future.

I personally think this deal favours Edmonton. Consecutive early round draft picks and 2 players that are still developing but can be considered 1st round draft choices already part way through the development process. a total overpay in my mind redwing. Especially since no one really wants gagne.

What do you mean we should be okay with current cap situation? Adding dougie, which is overrated at best, and his nearly 6 mil would cripple the leafs. Marleau would mysteriously have to disappear as well as getting a late pick for zaitsev and connor brown. Then maybe leafs could afford marner kap and johnsson . not including Hamilton. Cap hell awaits. A depleted team is on horizon until 2020-2021 season at least.

Also Horton counts against cap and roster spot until actual hockey starts in pre season because you can't be ltir'd in offseason sitting on your couch. Hockey has to be played and then you are deemed unhealthy enough to play. Cap hell.

They won't be able to afford Johnson or kapenan regardless. Only way they could have would have been by moving zaitsev. even then we still would have to let gards walk. In other words, knowing a 1st round knock out is inevitable leads should have done their best to get picks for gards and an expiring contract for zaitsev rather than getting nothing yet again for ufas. Team will be pressed for wild card spot next year.
