Tor Marner, Sandin, 3rd, 5th

Ott Chabot, Tkachuk

Posted something like this before but after watching a send game and checking chabots stats I don't see Ott willing to lose him. He's on a good deal and playing THIRTY THREE minutes some nights. That's insane numbers.
He's a guy that steps right in and plays top line minutes for 8 years at 8/ yr. Definitely worth having. Tkachuk is in there to replace Marner Sandin to replace Chabot for the sens.

I heard rumours about Chabot being a future Norris winner before he even ever made the nhl. So seeing just how outstanding he really is, living up to expectations, is really good to see for a Canadian team that just can’t ever seem to get it right. Chabot is Ottawa’s Reilly. I really like the kid and all, but the cost of acquisition is probably higher than we are willing to pay. And he’s also LHD when we are in desperate need of RHD. Marner is better than young Brady Tkachuk, and probably will remain significantly better the duration of their careers. Sandin for Chabot is much harder to judge. I would rather keep Marner. Just my opinion though. There’s lots of good reasons to make this trade as well.

Leafs get the better Dman and the worse forward. Even though Marner is overpaid and Chabot is real good on his way to being great, I rather not make this trade. Interesting proposal.

Elaborate tdw? Other than Marner is amazing?

Without doubt, tdw1968’s drunken answer is one of the best I’ve seen in a while. Straightforward, slurred, and to the point.

Nothing wrong with this deal. if you want an established young Dman you got it. If you want grit you got it. when all said and done
In 3 years
Marner + sandin= 13-15 million

In 2 year
Chabot + tkachuk = 14-16 million

Toronto saves money short term while ottawa saves a bit long term. this trade really depends on how you value each player. Its a very subjective trade but from how i view it i say get er done.

I lost a lot of respect for Brady Tkachuk after he took the game puck from Primeau’s first win. No need to be doing that. It’s a huge difference than when Pronger took the puck from the net during the playoffs. That was a Stanley Cup finals. It served a purpose when Pronger took the puck. The Ottawa-Montreal game where Tkachuk took the puck was meaningless. No need to rob a young goalie of his keepsake. That’s just ignorant.
