1st trade is interesting. Although you are really swinging for the fences making Demko our #1. Big gamble.

Minny would have to do better than that 5th. Greenway is fine, but he disappears in the playoffs. Dumba is hard to pin down. Is he regressing because teams have started to figure him out or is his play the by-product of the whole team regressing.

Gaudreau has been so inconsistent in his career. I am not sure I would want to spend good assets on him with his cap hit. He can overperform or really underperform. You are not sure what you will get with him from year to year.

Demko is a risk, but affordable for this year and can be extended now for 3 years 3M per. With the cap hit on the forwards having a decent goalie low on cap would allow us to beef up on D.

Minny would be taking 10.4M in cap space and with Dumba and Greenway would likely result in a savings of about 2M+ on the cap

The Gaudreau deal would give us a cheaper version of Willy with more creativity and someone in the off-season or deadline we could get value for if we don’t make the playoffs or need to add something to get us over the top.

Overall approx 3M or so in cap savings allows more flexibility, Demko is a risk but so is keeping Freddy and letting him go for nothing after another first round exit and we get Greenway and Virtanen as some lower cost youthful options to move up and down the lineup or as trade chips. Dumba and Gaudreau are young top end talent that with a change of scenery could recapture some of their former glory.
