Leafs trade 1st (15)
Ottawa trades 1st (28), 2nd (51), 3rd (63)

Leafs draft Grans, Tuch, Savoie

And with their own 2nd (44) I like the sounds of that Kuznetsov kid. Scouting reports are good and he has nice size. He’s projected to go right in that area.

A little something for everyone here. A couple big defensemen, a good sized power forward, and an undersized skilled forward the type Dubas likes.

I’m all for quantity over quality at this stage as quality won't be affordable in 4 years but 3 quanties will be as leafs don’t need more Matthews, they need more bottom feeders to do the dirty work at a tenth of the price.

It’s not completely quantity over quality though. It’s a lower quality, but still good quality. A lot of safe players in that area. Safe as in I mean they should make the nhl in some capacity. Sandin was drafted very close to 28, so that’s a comparable to Grans. Similar to Leafs picking Robertson with the 2nd round pick and SDA with the third, Savoie is the exact type player Dubas loves to target in mid rounds.

All good players that might could one day be regulars on the roster. Is the guy we draft at 15 projected to be much better than these three guys combined? Hard to say since we don’t know who it is (but I’m assuming it’s Schneider) .

I’m not a big fan of trading down.
Leafs traded down a few years ago and took Travis Dermot and Jeremy Bracco.
With the Leafs pick Flyers took Travis Konecney.
Which would you rather have on your team?
That one hurts almost as much as Mark Hunter drafting Korshkov with the 31st overall pick leaving DeBrincat for the Blackhawks.
DeBrincat was a two time 50 goal, 100+ point player in the OHL.
You know that if Dubas had been in charge of that draft instead of Lou and Hunter, DeBrincat would be a Leaf right now.
