Now let me explain the trades. The second trade the wings get a youngish player and a pick for a goalie who won't be part of the rebuild anyway. We get a goalie tandem. Now the block buster up top, the ask for Ekholm was 3 assets and two of them had to be a first and a top prospect. I provided them both and the third asset was either a b prospect or a second round pick which I provided. So basically it's granlund for dermott and Andersen which is a pretty good offer. The reason why they retain on both players is bc granlund is a ufa and they have already been rumoured to retain on Ekholm. Now let's look at this playoff team.

Cap in roughly 6 mill.
Cap out roughly 7 mill. So I saved us some cap space

I know playing Ekholm on the bottom pair is not ideal but I haven't heard he's comfortable on the right side and I feel when Holl is on the top of his game he's capable of being a very good shut down man as we've seen him shut down mcdavid all year and he's also physical which will help come playoff time. If you don't feel comfortable with Kerfoot as a third line center then maybe just swap him for haula but 🤷‍♀️

Second trade seems like something Detroit might do.

Big trade. Yes, the ask is apparently a 1st, an elite prospect and another piece for Ekholm. If you want Nash to retain 50% of Ekholm's contract, the price just went up a lot. I can't see why Nash would take Andersen unless we needed it for cap reasons, and again, we will pay them to do so. Personally, I would say replace Andersen for Kerfoot, remove the retention on Ekholm, make the 2023 2nd a 2021 2nd, and you are getting pretty close. Just my opinion of course.

Rather have a healthy Anderson then Bernier. Rather have Dermott and Bogosian rotate as 6th and 7th dman. Ekholm should be playing on the top with Brodie and Reilly goes in 3rd pair, shelter Reilly defensively. Leafs would have 2 solid shutdown pairs and a great 3rd pair. Wondering if NAS and Columbus will make trades since they both look good to overcome CHI and battle for 4th place in there division.
Love to have Granlund and Ekholm. Must be the just about the number 1 trade targets on here.

I kinda think the 4th alone is more than fair for Bernier. But you are free to value any player as you think fair.

Why would a tanking Nashville need Andersen?
