Why not just trade Nylander for lindholm

Because Lindholm is Calgary’s #1 center and by trading him for Nylander, a RW, Calgary are effectively without a center for Nylander to play with making him somewhat ineffective.

Nylander and Lindholm are friends.
Acquiring Nylander would likely change Lindholm’s desire to leave Calgary and convince him to resign.
A line of:

Huberdeau - Lindholm - Nylander has the potential to be special.

To Calgary: Nylander ($6.9), Brodie ($5), Robertson ($800,000),

To Leafs: Toffolli ($4.25), Hanafin ($4.95) (unless Hanifin is against resigning in Canada), Zadorov ($3.75)

Leafs sign Scott Mayfield to replace Brodie on the right side of the defense.

I think any GM in the world would do this from a Leafs point of view, but not a single one, would do it as CGY gm.

Why would Calgary not do it? Nylander, and robertson, could get you tofolli and hanifin alone. Add in a respectable 2nd pairing Dman.
I think Toronto would hesitate before calgary.
