I must be missing something with the Leafs trade. Woll and Benoit for Ersson, Andrae and a 3rd. Are they planning on flipping Ersson? Andrae is definitely not the missing piece to this D. They want the cap space for something bigger?

I don't really get it either, I don't see how you even flip him, maybe the offer was a 4th I less we took the contract slot to bump it up to a 4th. It feels like a not great return for Woll. But I'm also not super familiar with that defenseman.

Saves 5m+ and gets us a 3rd. Can definitely use that 5m+ on a better goalie and D-man.

3rd pairing, 24yo energizer bunny puck moving D. Team has to get faster on the backend as lkng as it doesn't go back to the Dubas days.

LL. Is he really that fast though? I see him as a better puck moving Stecher. Stecher is a little faster, but Adrae better edgework. I don't know, I guess if moving on from Woll to bring in a D, I was hoping for a little more upside and size than Andrae. I hope he surprises me.

King…. You’re not using that money on a “better goalie”. And Andrae is stetcher 2.0….. He's an average skater.

This one is a true head shaker. We have cap money now to go after someone like Tuch who I am a bit leery of without Tage Thompson playing with him. Only way we get rid of Woll to save more salary cap in this deal, is if we are going after a Bobrovsky. Because Ersson is not the answer.

He is just as much if not more injury prone and inconsistent as Woll and Stolarz. I would not be opposed to bringin Bobrovsky in as a Mentor to A. A and we then move out Stolarz. But if this isn't the plan I truly and confused with the deal.

Ckps…. ? Key Scouting Attributes Skating & Mobility: He possesses excellent edge work and agility, allowing him to walk the offensive blue-line, evade forecheckers, and quickly retrieve pucks. Passing & Vision: Andrae’s standout trait is his distribution. He excels at making sharp, accurate outlet passes that instantly transition his team from defense to the rush. Hockey IQ: He reads the ice extremely well, frequently quarterbacking the power play and making calm, calculated decisions with the puck on his stick. Size & Physicality: At 5'9" and roughly 189 lbs, Andrae lacks prototypical NHL size. While he competes with a high work rate and will deliver hits against the boards, he can get overpowered or boxed out by heavy, physical forwards in net-front battles. Shooting: He has a decent wrist shot and knows how to get pucks through traffic to the net, though he doesn't own a heavy or booming slap shot. Projection: He profiles as a mobile, offense-minded bottom-pair defenseman who can anchor a second-unit power play. He is considered an effective puck-mover who thrives when paired with a larger, stay-at-home defensive partner who can cover for him in the corners. You can track his overall hockey metrics on Elite Prospects.

If he has offensive skills and is weak in the defensive end and his acquisition takes away quality development ice time from Danford, it’s already a bad deal. We need an offensive defensemen yes... But that same player needs to not be weak in our own end.
