Hearing Canucks are willing to retain on Elias.
If that’s true, this is a perfect opportunity for the Leafs to swoop in and offer Reilly plus a prospect snd/or mid draft pick without any retention. You’re getting rid of $7.5m, taking on $11.6m. Nucks actually save more going this route.

He’s 27 yrs old. The guy is going into his prime. He needs to get a fresh start somewhere else. Him and Willy on the same line would reignite his offensive side for sure.

Plus u get a guy like Knies or McKenna on his left side as well. U can’t tell me you don’t want him especially if u can unload Reilly and maybe Robertson as well in the deal.

I'd take that trade too. He's actually decent at playing a 200ft game...ppl just have huge expectations because of the contract he signed. If he gave us 70 points at a #2 center and played some harder matchups to free up Matthews, then I'd be game.

He's only 27 years old too.
If we have the cap space and don't need to give up alot...say Reilly, Macielli and a 2nd rounder this year...then why not take the chance? This would allow JT to slide down to the 3C or over to the wing.

Says u. Cause u r still stuck in the Berube/Treliving era. Come and gone. 2c is what u need and right now he can be had for not much and you get rid of Reilly in the process. In actuality he cost u $4.1m after dumping Reilly on nucks. Heard more than one person propose this trade so I think u r sadly mistaken that no one wants him.

I think him and Willy together would be danger and then u add Knies or McKenna on the left side. Plus Tavares becomes your 3c. I don’t see how u wouldn’t want him.
