I would consider that a productive off season. I don't like the line combos as Kadri is a Number 2 given his progression last year and his contract. He'd probably regress as a number 3 center. I think Matthews is a winger this coming season if the Leafs sign Stamkos. Perhaps Nylander can play Center on the 3rd line, and 1st PP and still have the ability to develop.

Babcock also said at season's end that they would address team toughness. I think that we should expect a FA or trade to get a player with size and sandpaper into our top 9.

Wow more repetitive drivel. That's about the 100th time you've posted this. You don't have the right to tell people to stop posting about the 1oa when you do the same thing

I am of the mind set that the Leafs do not need to go after Stamkos since they won the Matthews sweepstakes. Stamkos is a hell of a talent and from Toronto but the timing and the price do not make a lot of sense to me for a rebuilding team.

The next year should be about developing and protecting their rookies since the Leafs may have up to 8 on their team (Matthews, nylander, sosh, hyman, Carrick, Zaitsev, brown or marner, and maybe Vesey). On that note I think they should keep Bozak to protect Matthews situationally and have a veteran centre who will have to youngsters in his wings and knows babcocks system.

In addition I think the Leafs should try to sign Helm. Babcock loves him and he can play on any of the four lines at both C an LW.

Well stated dl7. Stamkos is an enormous talent but he just doesn't fit with the rebuild. How do you afford 10 million bucks four or five years from now when some of the young players need a new contract?

No to stamkos unless it's a big discount , going to think to the future as 4fanlife said

I'm not so sure guys. This team cleared all that cap space to go after a once in a long time UFA. The only way his contract is horrendous is if he pulls a Clarkson. The team needs a captain to not only lead the way, to lead by example and to shelter Matthews/Marner/Nylander from the fishbowl. The team is staggering their contracts so in 5/6 years from now they'll have to make moves to shed salary. As long as the pipeline can produce cheap replacements it's fine.

Definitely need a captain I'm with you on that. But if you wait till 2017 answer 2018 there are some majorly talented rfas available. To me they are young enough to be big time players when the leafs are ready to win the cup

You don't need to free up cap space for Matthews.he won't make much for 3 years. Holland is not worth a second round pick. Stamkos is only 26 years old. in the last 3 years of his 10 million per season he'll be a bargain. If he wants to play for the Leafs you get him. If not wait a year and try for Tavares.
