First, I believe Stamkos contract will be more than an AAV of $9.5M, more like $10M - $11M and I doubt the Leafs are trading JVR away for Shattenkirk.

for Stamkos: Leafs will be paying him like 3-3.5M extra from their marketing and partnerships. only reason wrote 9.5M cause that will be the cap hit.

and I could see Leafs doing that cause we need a top2 dman to play with Rielly way more then we need JVR. Leafs just got Rychel yesterday so that helps with trading JVR away

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Been trying to trade him since they drafted him. In two years, you are better keeping bozak then him. Even if you keep bozak for full two years or trade him march '18 and get something. Later that year and next you are going to have to start new contracts for Nylander, Marner and Matthews.

Keep thinking two years out all the time with cap. Two years out kadri will still have 4x4.5 left. Ugly. The other three will probably exceed 4.5 AAV. Sure they can sign them for bridge contracts but don't think so.

two years out Kadri will be cheap at that price. Who'd been trying to trade him, you? Leafs could have if they really wanted to. Babcock likes him so he'll stay unless his progress stops. For what he can do, he'll be a bargain in two years. unless like I said, his play moves backward, or his off ice bullshit. ask anyone from London about that. LOL

Now, you are assuming he is a bargain in 2 years. You are probably also assuming that cap will continue to go up. Very minimal rise in cap for this coming year. I believe more because players used their 5% escalator clause then economics. We all know cdn$ is down and not looking good for near future. This shit comes into play when dealing with cap big time as you know. I'm not willing to predict that cap is much higher in two years.

I will assume in two years the other three I mentioned will be much better in two years then today. More upside to their game then idiot boy from London.

Idiot boy's contract not going to help their cap in two years. Now I will also admit that although I hate his contract, all leafs need in two years is one stupid gm to take his contract because it could be tradeable.

Still think bozak for another 12-18-24 months, they are better off both on and off the ice when keeping cap in mind.
