Leafs trade Sandin, Liljegren
Dallas trades Klingberg

I would hate to lose both those guys, but Klingberg is a pretty huge upgrade at 1RHD for us. He would be exactly what the Leafs are looking for. The cost is huge, but the reward is worth it.

If Dallas accepted this I would do it now. Go all in right now and hope you win.

I generally don't like any prop that can't decide whether it's build for the future or go for it now. This is definitely win now and works for me.

I really like the thought of bringing in a true 1rhd but don't want to see those pieces go I say Reilly goes 1 for 1.

What about adding Kerfoot and maybe someone else and getting Ekblad.

I think Dallas sees themsves as contenders too. If they decide to dump Seguin and Benn and go full on rebuild then something like this might happen. It's a huge price to pay, but it's an all in move that fixes that spot for quite a few years. It's a move I can't quite see Dubas being desperate enough to make right yet. Maybe in a couple years he will sell the farm when he thinks his job is on the line.

Leafsgm, you always say how players are not worth as much when they are not proven, so why does Dalas go for this deal? If I'm the stars I pass.

Unproven players are worth less to any team viewing themselves as contenders. Any team that wants to rebuild will gladly take unproven A prospects as the proven stars will age out or need new contracts.

If Stars decide to rebuild they would make a deal like this. They are getting two younger top 4 defensemen on elc that are controllable for many years. They will be on the team for a very long time.
