Chicago: Patrick Kane (3M retained)

Toronto: William Nylander, Nick Abruzzese, 2023 1st round pick

This is the equivalent of the Kawhi trade in hockey terms.

It's a nice idea and I'm not familiar with basketball enough to know if their roster translates into hockey. The cap space is an immediate problem and there are other options for Nylander that don't hinge on just having one good year.

@Henlo NBA is soft cap+luxury tax. If the NHL was run that way then Dubas could spend 120/ year if he wanted too.

The difference between a basketball trade and a hockey trade - as we have discussed ad nauseum since last season- is the difference Kawhi makes vs Kane.

In his prime, 99 would never have had even close to the same impact as Michael Jordan. Different sports.

Personally, I think this is an overpay. If Nylander is moved then I think you look for cap space and a middle 6 player with picks and prospect coming back.

Kane based on skillset, leadership and 3 cup rings this would be a Kawhi type move. Kane is still a superstar, 92 pts in 78 games this past season. He knows how to close out a game or a series, doing so as a star player.

I really wish people stop trying to trade for kane. How about Nylander for debrindcat.
